Winter Jordan Pines Big Cottonwood Canyon Utah Bridal Session

Winter this year in Utah has been… weird. The snow stayed away and has decided to come now that it is March. Jared and Nikelle were married back in January and all that they wanted was snow for their wedding. But they didn’t get it. After seeing some of my work on Instagram, Jared reached out and asked if I would be up for a snowy formal session in the mountain with him and his wife. Quite obviously the answer from me was yes, or you wouldn’t be reading a blog post right now.

Winter Jordan Pines | Big Cottonwood Canyon | Bridal Session

So we met at one of my favorite locations when a bride and groom tell me that they want “snow and pine trees” – Jordan Pines in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Its a drive to get to as it takes about an hour from my house. But it is always worth it. Utah has beautiful mountains and they are so easy to get to. The last time I was up at Jordan Pines for a session, the parking lot and surrounding shoulder of the road were completely full. There were photographers and couples EVERYWHERE. But not this afternoon. It was only us. And a really cold looking Scout Troop packing in for a winter camp as we were headed back to our cars. Ha.

It was cloudy and COLD when we met, but they trooped it out. Nikelle’s dress had POCKETS and that beautiful cape made this session so perfect. I very much was singing to myself that “the cold never bothered me anyway”. (But here is a secret – the cold does bother me, except for when I am with my camera.) I’m so glad that the snow finally came! And that it didn’t melt off before we were able to get these beautiful shots!

Are you ready for this?
