A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to second shoot for Brit of Brushfire Photography at this beautiful Kamas Utah backyard wedding. The home where the wedding was held was tucked down a gravel road lined by horse pastures and small trees. I was only hired to help for the hours during which the bride was getting ready with her bridesmaids in the upstairs room with a balcony, through the ceremony, family portraits and couple photos. So I only have a handful of images that I wanted to share with you. And I am LOVING the way these images look with my new style of editing! Aren’t they beautiful?! Why yes, Whitney, yes they are.
The Day
Katelyn was an absolutely stunning bride, but also a super smart girl. I overheard a bridesmaid asking her if she had a list of shots that the photographers needed to get. But Katelyn only replied, “No, I trust her.” And I just have to tell you that those are the words that every photographer hopes to hear from their clients. I watched the bridesmaid after Katelyn replied and her facial expression clearly said that SHE didn’t trust the photographer. The bridesmaid even tried again to say – No, but do you have a list? and Katelyn again said, “No.” Simply and with a smile. Katelyn was glowing in the aftermath of her emotion-filled ceremony, where she officially became a wife, and she knew that her photographer could be trusted to get all of the important shots of the day. (And then some!)
I was trying really hard to be friends with this little dude… I think it worked. For about 35 seconds. The smiling girls with their colorful bouquets.
The house’s property backed up to the Provo River. We were so fortunate that it had rained the night before the wedding because the river actually was flowing for their pictures (it had been extra low without movement before the rain. The bride said it was “mucky and yucky”. I believe it after the dry summer Utah has had. But like I said, luck was on our side and these pictures near the river turned out so beautifully!).
