A Scottish Wedding in Utah | River Bottoms Ranch Wedding -

Photography workshops – are they really worth it anymore? That’s what a lot of photographers have been asking themselves over the last couple of years. Here’s my two cents on it… the small ones are great. It really is good to be around other photographers and “compare notes” on what you are or are not doing. It helps you elevate your craft just a little more. But the big ones with 20+ photographers all fighting for the same shots of the same couple? I’m over those.

I’m making the move to editorial shoots that I coordinate myself. I pick the vendors that I want to work with and where I want to photograph/work… and in turn, those shoots are so fun to do and help me cultivate my creativity. Sometimes on a wedding day, there isn’t a lot of time to be creative, so having these shoots just for ME are what I’ve been really craving. I know that I will be doing more of them in 2020.

Beautiful Styled River Bottoms Ranch Wedding Editorial

This specific shoot wasn’t put together by me. It was a bigger shoot that I got to be part of with other local photographers at the end of a photography workshop (don’t ever stop learning!) A Scottish inspired fall wedding at the River Bottoms Ranch in Midway. And it was the most beautiful fall day!

Also – SHEEP! And a horse! What more could you ask for from this shoot? Well… a bagpiper would be nice. Oh wait, it had that too! So yes, you could say that all of my Scotland in Utah dreams came true this day.
