Snowy Winter Engagement Photos | Utah Mountains in the Snow

Can I tell you some of my favorite things about engagement pictures in the snow? Well I hope so, since you are on this page and seeing these images. Maybe you aren’t even reading this blog post, but that’s OK. I’m still going to tell you. Winter engagement sessions – especially in the mountains of Utah – are the perfect opportunity to get cozy with your soon-to-be spouse and snuggle together (to stay warm of course).

My biggest tips for your winter engagement session in the snow, is don’t forget about your footwear. I know snow boots aren’t super “cute”, but if the snow is deep, you might not even be seeing what you are wearing from the knees down. And cold, wet feet can ruin your experience faster than almost anything else.

Pack all of the warm things. Gloves, coats, hats to cover your ears, extra socks, sweat pants that are warm and dry for the drive home. I also highly recommend hand warmers in shoes and pockets. When you are cold, your skin turns red and that will show up in pictures faster than you think.

I’ve done both full winter outfits in coats and warm gear for pictures, as well as the cute outfits with no extra layers. They are both great options. If you choose for less layers just prepare yourself for the cold and be ready to smile through it all. I guess you should already know what you are signing up for when you choose snowy winter engagement photos, but you then again people try to eat laundry detergent, so I guess I can’t tell you too much.

There is an undeniable charm to photos in the snow. The blank white canvas really helps to keep the focus on the two of you. After all, that’s what engagement pictures are all about. The two of you.

We got lucky with the weather this day. A perfectly overcast day that meant we could go anywhere we wanted and hardly any people around us. We were cold, but we made it through it and were warm again in no time.
