Weddings in October in Utah are very much a gamble. You never know what you are going to get for your weather. Rain, sleet, snow, wind, sun… it can be everything! And sometimes it is all in the same day. Leading up to Brooklynn and Adam’s wedding day the weather was forecasted for cold temperatures and snow. The next day it would say sun. The next day you checked it would say rain. But when the actual day came? Colder temperatures of course (because it is October after all) but sunshine all day long. It was an absolutely beautiful fall day on Temple Square and the happy couple’s family and friends were so full of love and excitement while they hugged and posed for pictures with everyone.
Because Brooklynn chose to have a formal session with Adam before their wedding day, we had plenty of time to walk the temple grounds and capture their happiness and to get pictures with the fall colors. There wasn’t pressure to get all of “the shots” with the temple, because we already had. Lower pressure, which meant more time for the couple to soak in the fact that they were husband and wife now. And less of me bossing them around into poses to try to get everything. It makes my job easier (which I obviously think is fantastic), but it also makes the wedding day less hectic for the couple.
Then we moved to their reception at The Falls Event Center at Trolly Square in downtown Salt Lake City. This was my first time photographing a wedding here and I’m happy to know that I will be back again in December. The floor to ceiling windows and white walls make for a very bright and open feel. And with Brooklynn’s choice of white pumpkins and succulents as centerpieces, everything came together beautifully. Speeches during dinner, greeting their guests with so many hugs and smiles and dancing with family and friends until their sparkler sendoff… it was the perfect day for the perfect couple. And I’m so glad that I was there to witness it all.
Love you guys!
