You’ve seen this location a lot this year – but I’m not a bit sad about it. It is one of my very favorite spots for pictures in Utah. Always good light and the most perfect neutrals that make every outfit shine. Even all white/cream like Ariel pulls off. And what do you think about doing your engagement pictures with a dog? Ariel and Zach’s dog Miller was an adventure for sure. He does NOT like strangers and apparently thought that I was evil every time I tried to get close for a photo.
How They Met
Directly from the Bride: “Zach and I met when I was 15 and he was just turning 17. It’s a funny story how we met actually. He tweeted out how annoyed he was that no one would answer his calls, and my good friend at the time reach out and said, “Well call me, I’ll answer.” That night he picked my friend and I up, and he soon realized I was living in his previous house he used to live in and I had the same room he had when he lived here. Pretty odd. We instantly grew so close that night and were inseparable. We realized we were within a 5 minute walk of each other, which made it pretty easy to see other every day.
“He has been my rock through everything. I’ve never been very close to my immediate family, especially my mom, and he was always there for me through my darkest years while I lived at home. He was my getaway from it all and loved all parts of me regardless of any baggage I had. We dated for 2 years, then took a break when he left for basic training. He and I still kept in touch, and once he got back we were back together instantly. He and I decided to move up to SLC for a change together, and soon after he had to leave on an almost year long deployment. That strengthened our relationship more than anything because we had to learn to love each other from a long distance. Once he got back, we started living together for a few years before we decided to switch things up and get our golden doodle Miller. He’s a crazy one, but he’s prepping us to be the most patient parents ever!”
How He Asked
Zach planned a date for us to drive up American Fork Canyon one Sunday and I didn’t think much of it since we do that on occasion. Once we got to the spot, I looked up to see rose petals on an overlooking rock on the river. My head was spinning and I couldn’t believe this was our moment. He got down on one knee, proposed, and I was a crying MESS. All the happy tears were escaping me, but his proposal couldn’t have been more perfect for us. So simple, intimate and special. Zach is everything I could have dreamt of and more. He is selfless, empathic, loving, funny, driven and always thinks of me before himself. So that’s our love story. And now we’re getting married!
